Scam artists commonly perceive senior citizens as being vulnerable and relatively wealthy due to their ability to access retirement accounts and pensions. As a result, seniors are often the target of a wide range of consumer fraud scams. The Arkansas Attorney General has made their protection a top priority including legal action against those who prey on seniors and legislation to toughen penalties against those who commit crimes against the elderly.
In 2003, the Attorney General established a Senior Advisory Board. The members of the board are a select group of knowledgable Arkansansas who will keep a constant dialogue open between Arkansas seniors and the Attorney General’s Office.
