Whenever you sign a contract or make a purchase
over $25 as a result of an in-home solicitation, you have
a three-day right to cancel. This is known as the "cooling
off" period. The salesperson must notify the buyer orally
of the right to cancel and provide a written form to sign,
stating that notification of the right to cancel has been
given.
Helpful Hints in Home Solicitations:
- Be wary of salespersons who start their
sales pitch by saying that they are "just taking

- Look very closely at deals that offer "free
gifts" and that depend on the purchase of another
product or a packaged deal.
- Do not ever let a salesperson into your
home unless you have seen proper identification and determined
exactly what he or she wants.
- No matter how attractive an offer appears,
refrain from making an immediate purchase. It is wise
to take a couple of days to consider the actual offer
or deal presented.
- Take the time to compare the salesperson's
price and product with others.
- DO NOT BE AFRAID TO SAY, "NO!
