Consumers:
Consumer Alerts > ID Theft Passport
Dear Arkansas Consumer:
Identity theft has become a frequent and frightening problem for consumers. Identity theft occurs when key pieces of personal or credit information like a credit card, drivers’ license, ATM card, or Social Security number are wrongfully obtained and misused. It is estimated that there are around nine million cases of identity theft every year in the United States.
In Arkansas, more and more consumers contact the Consumer Protection Division of our office about this issue. As the state’s chief law enforcement official, one of my top priorities is to prevent this crime. I hope you will use the information on this Web site both to protect yourself and to help us fight identity theft by educating your family, friends and fellow community members.
You can be sure that my office is working hard to protect all Arkansans from becoming victims of identity theft, and please do not hesitate to contact my office if you have any questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
